To ensure a smooth daily rhythm and allow full enjoyment of all scheduled experiences, it is recommended to begin walking between 09:30 to 10am each morning. This timing provides sufficient margin to complete each stage comfortably, while still allowing time for planned activities, transfers, and dining arrangements.

Arrival in Oia
Arrival Day

Your journey begins with your arrival at Porto Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met in the arrivals hall by André and Julia, who will assist you with your private transfer to your hotel in Oia. This first day is intentionally unstructured, allowing you to recover from travel, settle in, and gently transition into the Camino experience. You can enjoy time at the hotel to relax and unwind after your journey. In the evening, you will enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner.

Oia → Baiona
17 km / 10.5 miles

Your first walking day is a gentle introduction to the Camino rhythm. The route follows the Atlantic coastline, passing beaches, cliffs, and open landscapes, with the sound of the ocean accompanying much of the walk. The terrain is varied but approachable, easing you into the journey without pressure. Arriving in Baiona feels both rewarding and celebratory, marking the true beginning of your Camino experience.

Baiona → Vigo
22 km / 13.5–14 miles

Today’s stage blends coastal scenery with inland paths, gradually transitioning from small towns into the energy of Vigo. You will pass through varied terrain, including forested sections and elevated viewpoints overlooking the Cíes Islands. This is a longer walking day, but one that feels rewarding and diverse. Support is always available should you wish to shorten sections or pause along the way.

Wednesday, 22 April
Vigo → Redondela
15–17 km / 9–10.5 miles

After departing Vigo, the Camino softens into rural Galicia. The route moves through eucalyptus forests and quiet countryside, creating a noticeable shift in scenery. This stage offers a more reflective experience, as the landscape becomes calmer and more immersive. You will again have access to recovery time, including a 45-minute massage or enjoying the hotel’s jacuzzi facilities.

Redondela → Pontevedra
18–20 km / 11–12.5 miles

Today’s walk follows river paths and historic routes into Pontevedra, one of Galicia’s most beautiful and characterful towns. Arriving in Pontevedra feels relaxed and rewarding, with time to explore and enjoy the old town’s atmosphere. On arrival at your hotel, you will have access to spa facilities and a 45-minute massage to support recovery. In the evening, you will enjoy a gourmet dining experience with wine pairing.

Pontevedra → Caldas de Reis

This stage continues through the countryside and woodland, offering a steady and balanced walking day. After your day of walking, you will have access to the sauna and a 45-minute massage, allowing for a full recovery experience.

Today is a more relaxed and culturally engaging stage. In addition to your walk, you will have the opportunity to experience the Albariño wine region, with a visit to the historic wine town of Cambados. This adds a different dimension to the day, combining the Camino with Galicia’s strong culinary and wine heritage.

Padrón → Santiago de Compostela

Your final walking day is both the most ambitious and the most meaningful. The route builds steadily toward Santiago, passing through villages and historic landmarks before the first glimpse of the Cathedral. Arriving in Santiago de Compostela marks the completion of your journey — a moment that is both personal and deeply rewarding. After arrival, you will have time to enjoy the hotel’s famous Spa to recover and prepare for your final evening. Your farewell dinner will be held at one of Santiago’s standout restaurants, with Michelin-level options selected for the occasion.

April Weather

April marks the definitive start of spring in Galicia. While you will enjoy more daylight hours, the weather can be famously unpredictable.

  • Daytime temperatures: approx. 60–65°F (16–18°C)
  • Evenings and mornings: still cool, often dipping to 45–48°F (7–9°C)
  • Rain: frequent but often passing light-to-moderate showers
  • Trails can be damp or muddy in forested sections; UV protection required when the sun emerges

Walking Clothing & Gear

  • Footwear: comfortable walking shoes or trail runners — waterproof (Gore-Tex) highly recommended
  • Socks: merino wool or moisture-wicking hiking socks
  • Base Layers: quick-dry short and long-sleeved tops (avoid cotton)
  • Trousers: quick-dry walking pants; zip-off styles are particularly useful
  • Outerwear: a high-quality waterproof rain jacket is essential
  • Insulation: a fleece or lightweight insulated jacket for cool mornings

Evenings & Leisure

  • Evening Wear: casual yet smart attire for dinners, winery visits, and Michelin-level experiences
  • Footwear: comfortable leisure shoes or sandals to rest your feet

A support vehicle is available throughout the journey, so you only need to carry day essentials in your daypack.
