Spring Weather & Packing Guidance

April Weather

April marks the definitive start of spring in Galicia. More daylight hours, but famously unpredictable weather.

  • Daytime temperatures: approximately 60–65°F (16–18°C)
  • Evenings and mornings: still cool, often 45–48°F (7–9°C)
  • Expect frequent but passing showers — trails can be damp or muddy in forested sections
  • The sun feels stronger when it emerges, requiring good UV protection

What to Pack

  • Waterproof walking shoes or trail runners, well broken-in (Gore-Tex recommended)
  • Hiking socks — merino wool or moisture-wicking
  • Quick-dry base layers, short and long sleeve (avoid cotton)
  • Quick-dry walking pants; zip-off styles are particularly useful
  • High-quality waterproof rain jacket and waterproof pants (rain poncho provided)
  • Fleece pullover or lightweight insulated jacket for cool mornings
  • Smart-casual evening wear for dinners, winery visits, and Michelin-starred experiences
  • Comfortable leisure shoes or sandals to rest your feet
  • Swimwear for hotel spas and jacuzzi facilities
  • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (UV index rises in April)
